Applicant Eligibility

• Child or grandchild of Golden Eagle member.

• Graduating high school senior planning to pursue full-time studies at an accredited two- or four-year college/university in the fall following graduation OR high school graduate taking a gap year in the first year after graduation planning to pursue full-time studies at an accredited two- or four- year college/university in the fall following the gap year.

 

Scholarship Criteria

• Applies for the first year of undergraduate work.

• Non-renewable.

• Funds paid directly to recipient’s educational institution.

• Funds may be applied to tuition, books, and related instructional fees.

 

Program Funding – Through USAA Serves

• Member, non-member and Club donations

• Donation matching by USAA – dollar for dollar up to the approved yearly match cap.

 

Administration

• Administered by the San Antonio Area Foundation (SAAFDN).

• Applications reviewed and ranked by SAAFDN.

• Ranking criteria established by the Golden Eagle Board:

• Academic merit.

• Extracurricular activities.

• Community service.

 

Selection Process

• Anonymous rankings reviewed by Golden Eagle Board.

• Available funds considered.

• Number of Scholarship recipients determined.
