USAA’s impact at the MLK march

USAA recently honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in marches and community events across all campuses. These powerful demonstrations of unity and purpose not only celebrate Dr. King’s enduring message but also exemplify USAA's commitment to belonging, service and fostering a vibrant culture for each other and the members we serve.

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, our participation in events like these and other volunteer efforts supports a growing call for year-round service that strengthens our communities and country.

A Shared Mission of Belonging

Part of USAA's strength stems from our culture of belonging and inclusion, which cultivates and leverages teammates' diverse perspectives. This environment ensures every individual's unique experiences and viewpoints continue to amplify our collective success. This year, members of USAA’s Golden Eagles Club (retirees) joined current employees in a show of unity to keep Dr. King’s dream alive.

“My career at USAA instilled in me a commitment to service and community that has stayed with me in retirement,” says former communications director for the Golden Eagles Ramona Teter. “I was honored to be able to participate in the MLK March alongside USAA’s current workforce to support an important cause and to reinforce the values that made USAA special to me as an employee.”

Community Impact: A Record Turnout

This year’s MLK March celebrations witnessed a historic show of support and participation from USAA teammates and their families across all campuses — achieving one of the highest turnouts yet. More than 2,700 employees across the Association made their presence known to honor Dr. King’s legacy.

"As the MLK March POC this year, my goal was to re-engage our workforce around the true meaning of MLK — not just as a moment, but as a call to service,” says Corporate Impact Director John Hinson. “Seeing employees, families, and community members walk and serve together reminded me that service truly connects us."
